Cascadia Media Labs Receives 2026 4Culture Arts Projects Grant

Seattle, WA - Cascadia Media Lab is thrilled to announce that we have been selected to receive a 2026 4Culture Arts Projects grant, supporting our mission to empower emerging filmmakers across the Pacific Northwest.

This award is a major milestone for our young organization. It affirms the need for accessible, community‑rooted film education and helps us expand opportunities for storytellers who have historically been excluded from the region’s creative industries.

“Receiving support from 4Culture at this stage of our growth is deeply meaningful,” said Derek Edamura Founder and Executive Director of Cascadia Media Lab. “This grant allows us to expand opportunities for youth, first‑time creators, and storytellers who have historically been excluded from the region’s creative industries. It accelerates our work to build a more equitable and vibrant filmmaking ecosystem in the Pacific Northwest.”

Why This Matters for Emerging Filmmakers

For Cascadia Media Lab, this grant will directly support:

  • Filmmaking workshops and hands‑on training for emerging creators

  • Mentorship and apprenticeship opportunities with working filmmakers

  • Production support for short films created through our programs

  • Community screenings and showcases that amplify local voices

This funding strengthens our ability to offer high‑quality, low‑barrier programs for filmmakers across King County—especially youth, first‑time creators, and storytellers from rural, BIPOC, and underserved communities. This support allows us to continue building a creative ecosystem where emerging filmmakers can learn, experiment, collaborate, and be seen.

Gratitude and Next Steps

We want to extend our deepest thanks to 4Culture for recognizing the importance of accessible film education and for supporting organizations that nurture local creativity. Their commitment to funding arts, heritage, and preservation projects strengthens the cultural fabric of our region.

Throughout 2026, we’ll share updates on workshops, filmmaker cohorts, and new projects made possible by this support. We look forward to collaborating with partners who share our commitment to creative equity and regional storytelling.
